Beginning April 29, the area of Howe Avenue between Main Street and State Route 8 will be closed for a maximum of 35 days. The northbound ramp from State Route 8 to Howe Avenue will be closed during this time. Northbound traffic to eastbound Howe Avenue should exit at Tallmadge Avenue. Southbound State Route 8 traffic to eastbound Howe Avenue will be detoured to Tallmadge Avenue. Southbound State Route 8 exit will remain open for westbound Howe Avenue/Cuyahoga Falls Avenue traffic.
During the second phase (early June 2019), work will begin on Howe Avenue from Main Street to Buchholzer Boulevard in the eastbound lanes. Eastbound traffic will be detoured from Home Avenue to Independence Avenue then to Buchholzer Boulevard. The construction will last through fall of 2019 and will then suspend for the winter months to resume in spring of 2020. All lanes will be reopened to through traffic during the winter months.
Phase three will commence in spring of 2020 with westbound lanes being rebuilt. Westbound traffic will be maintained on the eastbound side of Howe Avenue and eastbound traffic will again be detoured from Home Avenue to Independence Avenue then to Buchholzer Boulevard, with an expected project completion in late fall of 2020.
